Overview:

Seeking a replacement in the Medium weight class, Clan Stone Lion sought out numerous designs deemed worthy of replacement. While typically not used by the Clan, several Ice Ferret chassis were captured during the War of Reaving, and after some lengthy debates on how to proceed…the Tau was born.

Known in ancient times as Lion in the language spoken by the tribes in Botswana African on Terra, the Tau is a fierce Medium class of OmniMech. Capable to deliver fast and hard attacks, as well as withstand a great deal of damage, the design is definitely to be feared.

Capabilities:

With the ability to reach a maximum standard speed of 127 kph, the Tau is lightning fast, making for a hard target to hit. A few variants even mount a supercharger, propelling the design to 165 kph, which creates an even harder target to hit. If one is able to hit this design, they will see that their weapons do just a little less damage due to the Gravastar Ferro-Lamellor plating which the manufacturing specifications were supplied by the Star Adders. While only one design uses jump jets, it is not seen as a flaw in the design, as we are sure there are other variants out there we haven’t seen.

The Prime variant uses a single Class 20 Hyper Assault Gauss Rifle as its only weapon, meanwhile the A variant uses an all energy basis for extended operations by mounting an ER Large Pulse and ER Medium Pulse Lasers.

The B variant rains down on the battlefield with dual iATM-6’s and a single Improved Heavy Medium Laser.

The C variant can be a close combat nightmare as it comes with quad Medium Pulse Lasers, has a jump capability of 180 meters, and uses a Light Active Probe to seek out hidden units.

Finally the D variant uses an Angel ECM Suite to further the difficulty to hit it, as well as an ER PPC and ER Medium Laser.

Deployment:

Racing across the battlefield trying to take out enemy commands, the Tau is a hard one to spot. We’ve seen them in Striker Stars, Recon Stars as the defensive unit, as well as some Battle Stars. Always with front line galaxies such as Zeta, the Tau has certainly made a name for itself as the primary Medium OmniMech for Clan Stone Lion. You will find this unit mostly within the Stone Lions, but several instances have shown it also appearing with the Coyotes, Cobras, and Adders.

The level of cooperation between all the invading Clans looks to be solid, which may end up being a primary weapon in this invasion. If we cannot find a way to disrupt their cooperation, they may just make their way to Terra, and who knows what they will have in store for the cradle of humanity.
